Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join the Fundamental AI Research organization (FAIR), a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI. As a Research Scientist on the Embodied AI team at FAIR, you will be part of an innovative group of research scientists and engineers working on cutting-edge AI technologies for robotics, AR, and VR, and sharing this research with the world. You will be responsible for pushing the state of the art in dexterous robot manipulation, by developing novel representation learning algorithms to improve a robot’s sense of touch.
Research Scientist, Computer Vision - Embodied AI (FAIR) Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and develop state-of-the-art AI approaches for dexterous robot manipulation that leverages rich sensing capabilities on robot hands.
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and document the findings in the form of technical reports and publications.
  • Collaborate with the broader team of researchers on the project, and influence project direction based on your area of expertise and experimental findings.
  • Write high quality, readable code that can be used and built upon by team members and the research community when open sourced.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ year(s) of work experience in an industry, university, or government lab
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences in Machine Learning (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR), Robotics (ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL), or Computer Vision (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV).
  • Experience with machine learning models, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
  • Experience with the following: representation learning, self-supervised learning, transfer learning, robotic manipulation, tactile sensing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

$143,000/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
