Meta is seeking a Global Operations Geo Director to provide sound technical and operations leadership in all aspects of our data center business for Site Operations, including the support of our teams delivering and maintaining mission critical IT hardware and tooling in our data centers. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly growing infrastructure efficiently operates and our innovative services are delivered. You will deliver foundational leadership to our data center operations teams within a Geo as part of our SiteOps Global Operations team. A mature Geo will typically include between five to ten hyperscale datacenter sites, dispersed across a geographical area. You will drive engineering and operations excellence, innovation and consistency in the planning, delivery and resilience of our Production IT Infrastructure, to meet the needs of our global community; and champion initiatives that enhance the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of our global operations. You will partner and communicate closely with other operations and engineering teams, stakeholders and customers to deliver proactive, data-driven industry leading operational and technical excellence at hyperscale. Strategic thinking, strong technical depth and proven business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. You will scale teams and operations, develop the next generation of technologists and people leaders by enabling a culture of innovation and teamwork. You will drive innovative initiatives, deliver the right automation, processes, insights and standards to enable Metas’ growth within your Geo and Globally.
EMEA/APAC SiteOps Geo Director, Global Operations Responsibilities
  • Develop Global Operations Geo strategy for Site Operations, inclusive of technical, operations and business elements to ensure alignment with Metas’ enterprise goals
  • Become an expert in Meta's infrastructure, tools, systems, workflows, and data
  • Build and guide a world class technical operations team, delivering operational performance and insights, practices, and tools to efficiently and proactively manage a hyperscale fleet of servers distributed across the globe
  • Formulate the right metrics and definitions of success, to provide data-driven narratives in effectively assessing, prioritizing and delivering technological, operations and business performance
  • Drive data analytics, analysis and interpretation of a complex technical environment to identify operational inefficiencies, opportunities, exceptions, and correlations, and proactively respond before they impact the fleet
  • Build quality assurance, continuous improvement, safety, security and data protection processes into standard work practices and anticipate potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate
  • Support the implementation of new technologies at scale and approaches that yield competitive advantage through innovation
  • Develop roadmaps of our next generation improvements for tooling, workflows and technology and proactively assessing the skills required to deliver
  • Help Meta leverage its technology, resources, people and infrastructure efficiently and optimally, driving continuous improvement of operations and fleet health
  • Build cross functional relationships, communicate and influence operations and technology strategy and policy with partners and customers, to improve global data center operations
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in engineering or related computer science/IT Management
  • 10+ years of operations experience, preferably in a mature engineering or operations environment, at a CTO, SVP, VP or Senior Director level.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and advanced knowledge of lean operational methodologies to distill operational data, develop an intentional data-driven strategy, and drive resulting global impact
  • Ability to influence effectively, working on cross functional teams to advance the needs of the company, adapting the team to meet these needs
  • Strategic thinking, organization and business-planning
  • Passionate technologist, leveraging technical, operations and engineering expertise to build strategy
  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel 30-40% required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six sigma certification.
  • Master of Science in Engineering: MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
