Meta is seeking a highly motivated team player to join the APAC Legal team as Associate General Counsel, GCR. The role will partner our business, policy and comms teams to tackle growth, cutting edge and topical issues rising from the Greater China Region. The ideal candidate will have experience handling regulatory and/or litigation matters and will be eager to roll up their sleeves and find creative solutions to help the company manage legal and regulatory risks across the Greater China Region. This role will be responsible for monitoring and advising on regulatory developments and enforcement, shaping and developing relevant policies and strategies and engaging with regulators on best practices for online regulations. There will also be opportunities to work on APAC wide initiatives in relation to emerging areas of focus. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious lawyer with a keen interest in learning about new technologies and the intersection of law and geopolitics to join a tight knit legal team and help shape Meta’s perspective on cutting edge issues in an exciting region. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Singapore
Associate General Counsel, GCR Responsibilities
  • Advise on the intersection of geopolitics, local regulatory developments and cultural nuances balanced with Meta’s initiatives and equities
  • Guide and partner internal cross-functional teams to successfully manage company’s legal risks while pursuing strategic initiatives
  • Develop regulatory positions on emerging regulations and implementation strategies for regulatory developments and manage risk of regulatory enforcement
  • Advisory and project management responsibility with respect to a broad range of legal subjects including regulatory matters
  • Work closely with teams across departments and offices, including our Business, Policy, Comms and Global Operations teams, based in offices around the world
Minimum Qualifications
  • LLB, JD or equivalent degree and excellent academic credentials with minimum 10 years PQE.
  • Strong experience handling complex legal issues, either in-house or at a law firm, across the Greater China region.
  • Familiarity with regulatory developments relating to online platforms, privacy and intermediary liability
  • Experience in advising on and representing companies in significant regulatory inquiries
  • Ability to manage wide diverse panel of law firms across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ability to independently, quickly and accurately assess legal, practical and business risk
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
  • Exercise good judgment and provide practical solutions
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with native or near-native verbal and written fluency in Mandarin due to need to support in-country work
  • Able to travel as and when required
