Product Design Prototyper

At Meta we are building productivity and collaboration experiences for the Metaverse across multiple platforms, including next-generation computing devices. Our long term vision is to build tools and technologies that allow rich, real-time collaboration at any distance to improve productivity, improve quality of life via reduced commute and need for physical spaces, and increase distribution of economic opportunity. As a Product Design Prototyper on Work Metaverse Experiences, you will help develop emerging experiences for productivity and collaboration, such as VR meetings, personal productivity spaces and, applications of mixed reality in business scenarios. The ideal candidate has experience working on end-to-end product development and is known as a strategic partner to their cross-functional peers. They set the product direction, define constraints and how to measure success, influence stakeholders, and solve design problems through experimental interactive experiences.
Product Design Prototyper Responsibilities
  • Define and synthesize user requirements
  • Help establish design processes to align cross-functional teams, including but not limited to designers, PMs, engineers, and researchers
  • Help to build product strategy, contributing to strategic decisions with engineering and research teams
  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
  • Investigate, design, build, user test and iterate on 3D interactive prototypes
  • Iterate rapidly. Present your prototypes to various audiences for feedback and improve in the next iterations
  • Give and solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
  • Partner with cross-functional partners to oversee the implementation of the user experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Design skills and the proven experience to lead in cross-functional environments
  • Experience with real-time 3D development environments (e.g Unity)
  • Strong programming ability in one or more languages (E.g., C#, JavaScript, HLSL/GLSL)
  • Ability to visualize in 3D and understand aesthetic and usability aspects of design
  • Experience with AR/VR and/or game development
  • Experience in shipping software products
  • Experience driving product strategy and vision
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Portfolio featuring examples of interaction and visual work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with researchers
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for user research
  • Experience with building prototypes in short timeframes (preferably with Unity or Unreal Engine or willing to learn using these platforms)
