The Colocation Team will be developing some technologies using signals coming from the mapping core team. You will be responsible for 1P part APIs and algorithms; shared ownership of the 3P API with XR Kit and being an advocate for developer and in user. Ideally breaking down the release into milestones at POEs, 1P API, and 3P API deliverables. Together with the Mapping / Miper organization is positioned to enable semantic and co-watching experiences that will enable mass multiplayer in AR devices, and easy party systems for MR devices that are for fun and productivity. This manager will lead a team to launch and improve colocation APIs to have high success rate through a multitude of algorithms that best fit the application (direct people detection, friend sharing, shared maps (SSA), and cloud mapping approaches (VPS)). Enabling our developers on AR and MR devices to reliably start multiplayer experiences from both Unity and Unreal. In parallel and for the long term development, make colocation a system level service that makes partying up for games as simple as clicking on the person in passthrough. Also provide semantic placement of content that allows users to place their shared screens on walls or desks transparently. Combine these so that Quest products are a premium way to watch videos and play games in a comfortable way with friends.
Software Engineering Manager - Colocation Responsibilities
  • Guiding team to work on colocation projects with TPM and cross-functional partners. Chart a path to low power colocation, system level integration, and advancing all dependencies.
  • Growth of ICs to next level and providing high level technical direction.
  • Act as owner of the E2E user experience to make sure all are working to make a cohesive vision.
  • Build a demand for colocated multiplayer and future semantic anchoring by identifying integration opportunities, leadership demos, and working with skip to identify signals already in the stack.
  • Building team health by making an inclusive and fun work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience launching a public API.
  • Experience creating a product vision and creating a strategy to execute.
  • Proven examples of mentoring and growing ICs.
  • Computer Vision / ML background (to weigh options and pursue the best options).
  • Examples of team building (health, optimizing for teams well being and long term productivity).
  • Experience working in an ambiguous environment where many options are possible.

  • Embedded / Android experience
  • ML model review and shipping experience

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
