Facebook is seeking a Director to lead Data Center Facility Operations for select operating sites in North America, as well as future sites that are yet to be announced/built. This role will provide oversight, monitoring, and direction to operating data centers, with a strong focus on leadership and operational excellence. This role will also create industry leading vision and strategy, scale operations, develop management talent, and develop robust processes and standards to enable Facebook’s expansion.
Director, DC Facility Operations - Central Responsibilities
  • Lead the data center Facility Operations teams for the operating sites in the central region of North America
  • Build a high performing team by mentoring and developing the management team and individual contributors
  • Develop robust processes and standards to enable efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop a scalable operations model to include a documented roadmap, goals, and objectives
  • Evolve the staffing model to support the requirements of a global world-class organization
  • Define and manage to Key Performance Indices (KPI) for mission critical facility operations
  • Provide leadership to understand, collaborate, and influence across the organizations that connect with the Infrastructure team
  • Scope and execute complex data center retrofit/upgrade projects in coordination with the Construction team
  • Prepare and manage OpEx and CapEx budgets
  • Provide leadership for the following: Preventive and predictive maintenance programs, IT load management and capacity planning, Document standardization of MOPs, SOPs, EOPs and record drawings, Equipment failure root cause analyses and corrective action plans, and Incident management
  • Develop and lead effective cross-functional communications between Data Center Campus Facility Managers, the leadership team, and adjacent operating teams
  • Ability to travel approximately 35%
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in personnel management, staffing, and scheduling for a 24/7 environment
  • Experience communicating at all levels
  • Experience thinking strategically and executing tactically
  • Experienced in change management and team building
  • Experience developing leadership at various levels
  • Experience successfully leading large complex projects
  • Experience in vendor management and negotiations
  • Experience in data center power and cooling infrastructure or other complex critical systems, and experience applying that experience to current data center challenges
  • Experience in diverse industries such as electrical generation, electrical distribution, cooling technologies, and fire suppression systems
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex problems
  • Experience adapting to a fast paced, hands-on, start-up work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering preferred, advanced degree in engineering or business
  • Experience managing teams of 50+ people
  • Understanding environmental health and safety programs
  • Understanding of network and cabling infrastructure
