Meta is seeking a data center Facility Technical Manager - Automation/Process to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. This Facility Technical Manager will build and manage a team of Building Automation/Controls Subject Matter Experts, Generator Subject Matter Experts, and process experts focused on maintenance and critical operations. The responsibilities of this role include management of a technical team, supporting a wide range of projects and processes within the site, coordination with engineering and global support teams, and communicating and resolving issues with various teams at the site. This position reports directly to the Data Center Campus Critical Facility Manager and is an onsite role.
Facility Technical Manager - Automation / Process Responsibilities
  • Lead a team consisting of Controls Subject Matter Experts, Generator Subject Matter Expert, and Process & Maintenance engineers at the Data Center who provide technical and process support to the Critical Operations teams. This team will consist of individual contributors.
  • Lead the team in providing technical solutions to operational challenges at the data center campus, to include unexpected system responses, design issues, and response to equipment failures.
  • Lead the team in providing maintenance planning, process workflows, document management, and qualification programs to the Critical Operations teams.
  • Coordinate and manage the campus emergency generator program.
  • Report directly to the Data Center Campus Facility Director (DCCFD) and provide direction on controls/automation/emergency power functions affecting physical infrastructure required throughout the campus.
  • Select and manage vendor relationships for automation system and generator maintenance.
  • Manage and secure our compliance program for Automation/Controls and generators.
  • Establish team goals and prioritize technical team resources to support the priorities of the Facility Operations organization.
  • Provide mentorship and people management in accordance with company values including supporting career growth and providing performance feedback.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and implement operational improvement projects aligned with budget priorities.
  • Work cross functionally with the Facility Technical Manager - Mechanical/Electrical to support and prioritize integrated technical work across the campus.
  • Support and ensure SMEs collaborate with other cross functional teams to investigate technical issues and develop solutions throughout the lifecycle of the data center
  • from startup through commissioning, modernization, and obsolescence.
  • Provide leadership and support for investigating root causes of unplanned operational events.
  • Coordinate, improve, and train on all programs related to maintenance planning and process development for the facility operations team.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide support and technical expertise on facility retrofit and modernization projects.
  • Work with recruiting to hire, interview, and select candidates for open positions.
  • 5-10% travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of technical experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls or a four-year technical degree such as engineering or technical program with 6+ years experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in building, managing, and coordinating technical teams.
  • General knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory codes and standards.
  • Experience communicating and presenting technical material effectively.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with complex systems. Examples may include any of: Building Automation systems, PLC systems, DDC systems, and/or other automation/control systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problems and addressing root causes by analyzing data.
  • Proven time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in managing technical teams.
  • Four-year technical degree such as engineering or technical program.
  • Experience in Data Center or other Critical Facilities strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Construction and/or Project Management of capital projects.
  • Experience managing maintenance or continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience leading building controls and automation projects.

$135,000/year to $188,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
