Data Science Manager Responsibilities
  • Build and lead data science teams on projects to deliver world-class products
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
  • Manage development of data resources, gather requirements, organize sources, and support product launches and data science projects
  • Analyze data, business intelligence, and statistical results to identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and influence the direction of Meta's product decisions and product launches by effectively communicating results to cross functional groups, including Online Ops, Product, and Engineering teams
  • Leverage data to provide insights about user behavior and to inform business decisions
  • Provide business recommendations based on data mining on large, complex data sets and applying concepts in number theory, computational theory, data structures and algorithms
  • Predict and understand user patterns through analytical and statistical metric analysis
  • Build and analyze dashboards, reports and key data sets to empower operations and exploratory analysis
  • Automate analyses and author data pipelines via ETL framework
  • Translate strategic questions into structured analyses, defining success metrics, and developing reporting channels
  • Build key statistical data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis, and automate analyses
  • Track current incoming volumes and trends in order to create forecasting models for operational insights
  • Assist in designing hypothesis testing experiments, analyze data collected and present results
  • Conduct ad hoc data analysis based on current team needs
  • Complete root cause analysis of different workflows in order to quantify problems, operationalize goals and identify priorities
  • Train team members on the use of reporting tools and lead data-driven business case solving courses
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Information Management and Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related field and 36 months of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 36 months of experience in the following:
  • Quantitative analysis techniques: clustering, regression, pattern, recognition, or descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Data analysis and algorithm development
  • Optimization, probability, statistics, or machine learning
  • ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
  • Relational databases and SQL
  • Development in PHP, Python or Perl
  • Large scale data processing infrastructure using distributed systems (Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, Teradata, or MPI)
  • Statistical analysis packages such as: R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, or Stata
  • Technical presentation skills
  • Working with cross-functional teams to choose/create metrics and set metric goals
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to organizational development
