Meta is looking for a Creative Lead to join the Design Shop team driving the visual direction of brand expression in product for Facebook. Design Shop is within the Facebook Design organization focused solely driving the creative direction that defines our identity by creating dynamic and engaging experiences in product. In every context, we aim to build a connection between our products and the people who use them. We do this through defining holistic visual systems that enable brand expression including illustration, photography, animation, and interactive moments. We also craft guidance and supporting structures that ensure our brand remains consistent, coherent, and harmonious when used at scale. This person will collaborate with creative, product, marketing, strategy, engineering and research teams on driving our visual design standards and quality. Within this role, the ideal candidate will be able propose creative concepts as well as directly design them as an individual contributor. Theri work will guide development, present multiple creative concepts for consideration and ship design that will resonate with our product goals. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented creative practitioner, with a passion for holistic product-design thinking, and is known to be a strategic partner to their cross-functional peers. They should have the ability to adapt to various creative styles and mediums, and know how to work in product.
Creative Lead, Facebook Design Shop Responsibilities
  • Lead creative development of visual elements and systems in collaboration with various design groups from product designers, art directors, communication designers, illustrators, animators and external partners
  • Direct and execute design of creative assets in various styles and mediums Create sketches, storyboards, prototypes and/or design specs necessary to guide the development of art and products
  • Deliver products that are delightful, strategically impactful and exhibit a high-level of craft
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, balance the needs of stakeholders, and break down complex requirements into simple, compelling solutions
  • Able to clearly articulate concepts/vision with cross-functional teams and vendors (internally and externally) by driving towards shared milestone
  • Create, inspire, and sustain a culture of excellence with a focus on craft and quality on the work
  • Collaborate with product, research and engineering teams to identify opportunities for product enhancements that would bring greater brand expression and elevate the quality of our work
  • Lead the development of culturally sensitive and appropriate creative for multiple global markets, ensuring that it feels relevant and useful
  • Align on key priorities with cross-functional teams to build shared goals, milestones and objectives
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ yrs experience encompassing interaction design and visual design with proficiency designing across platforms
  • 8+ years experience working cross functionally with teams such as product, design, engineering, marketing and user research
  • Experience leading design direction across various multidisciplinary teams with the experience identifying visual design opportunities and elevates the overall product experience
  • Experience building and shipping applications or software across a variety of platforms
  • Experience representing work to broad cross functional stakeholders including product teams, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
  • Experience to flex thinking from strategy to creative to user experience to tactical
  • Understanding of how and when to go to a high level view vs zooming in close to the details
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with experience communicating complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively — Can explain the “whys” behind decisions and direction, is open to being wrong, and has a point of view and can represent it with conviction
  • Experience taking design feedback and incorporate it quickly
  • Knowledge of design principles related to design systems, brand, marketing, and publishing with understanding of UX design, digital product design, information hierarchy, user-flow, and typography
  • Experience coordinating, directing, providing creative direction to contractors, agencies, and in-house designers
  • Successful in fast-paced environment that requires managing many dependencies including independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen experience identifying problems and proactively work towards solutions
  • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creative leadership, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
  • Experience bringing clarity to complex, sometimes ambiguous projects and processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in prototyping tools/skills (i.e. Figma)
  • Experience leading design sprints and workshops

$147,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
