The camera and depth simulation role is a critical function that sits at the front edge of all future products, simulating the output from camera and depth architectural approaches that cross-functional teams will use for early module down-selections.
Image Simulation Engineer Responsibilities
  • Run the in-house, photorealistic, imaging simulator that predicts future camera performance long-before camera HW is available
  • Collaborate very closely with Camera Architects, Imaging Simulation SW Engineers, Product Management, and cross-functional teams to provide simulations of numerous variants in the camera design space
  • Ideal candidate will have the leadership, collaboration, communication, and technology development skills needed to advance the boundaries of what is possible in AR/VR imaging technology space.
  • Collaborate closely with the Imaging Simulation SW Engineers in the development of advancements in the imaging simulation tool.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. (or equivalent experience), in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Image Processing or related technical discipline
  • Advanced knowledge in MatLab and OTS image simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge in Zemax, CodeV, Python, C/C++, Blender.
  • Sound working knowledge in cell-phone-camera-like digital imaging, including lighting, object space vs camera space metrics and relationships, the impact of motion between the object and the camera, lenses and ray tracing, image sensors, image signal processing, scene asset generation and/or manipulation.
  • Proven communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S., PhD (or past demonstrated advanced expertise) in fields of Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Image Processing or related technical discipline
  • Expertise in imaging modeling and simulation SW tools.
  • Expertise coding imaging system scenarios in MatLab, C++, etc.
  • Expertise in camera use cases and design constraints for AR/VR and wearable applications
  • Expertise in digital asset generation for high-fidelity imaging
  • Strong experience in depth-based camera systems: passive stereo, active stereo, iToF, and dToF.
  • Experience in digital camera manufacturing, calibration, test, and reliability.
  • Expertise in solving ambiguous and complex, cross-functional, system problems
