Security Engineer Responsibilities
  • Identify, build, and configure security systems to protect infrastructure.
  • Identify and analyze threats that aim to collect sensitive information or disrupt business.
  • Analyze malware and develop new signatures or methodologies to track activity and drive rapid deployment of countermeasures.
  • Assess the security of the core infrastructure and take a hands-on role in building solutions.
  • Make threat intelligence actionable by integrating it with existing or novel detection capabilities.
  • Define configuration standards for system and network devices to harden them against attacks.
  • Work with members of IT, Operations, and Security teams to harden the infrastructure against attack.
  • Consult on new infrastructure projects or architecture changes and evaluate security needs.
  • Communicate cross-functionally and effectively in one-on-one and group settings to explain complex security requirements to non-security individuals.
  • Assist with technical investigation, enforcement, and engineering efforts toward predictable high quality execution.
  • Review case reports and code.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and assist with technical security strategy.
  • Telecommuting is permitted from anywhere in the US.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in Security Informatics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field. Foreign equivalent accepted.
  • Requires 24 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Requires 24 months of experience involving the following:
  • 1. Coding skills in one of the following: PHP, Python, or Bash
  • 2. Internet security issues and the threat landscape
  • 3. Host, network and application security
  • 4. GNU, Linux, Windows, or OS X
  • 5. TCP/IP networking, and network services such as DNS, SMTP, and DCHP
  • 6. Addressing cyber threats
  • 7. Developing and debugging in C, C++, C#, or Java
  • 8. Developing and debugging in PHP and Python
  • 9. Distributed systems
  • 10. Interpreting information from multiple sources and working with data sets
  • 11. Developing front-end and back-end systems.

$205,585/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
