Policy Associate Manager, Content Regulation (APAC)

As part of our commitment to our community we have called for new regulatory frameworks for online content—frameworks that ensure companies are making decisions about online content in a way that minimizes harm but also respects the fundamental right to free expression. We are seeking a Policy Associate Manager for our Global Content Regulation Team to help shape the company’s approach to harmful content regulation. The ideal candidate should have APAC regional expertise in content and media regulatory issues and/or law, experience working on platform policy issues (including intermediary liability and other communications and media policy issues), and strong knowledge of digital economy and internet policy issues. They should also have excellent communication, writing and analytical skills and share Meta’s vision of bringing the world closer together. This role is full-time and will be based in Singapore.
Policy Associate Manager, Content Regulation (APAC) Responsibilities
  • Develop and draft policy positions on harmful content regulation, including on emerging regulatory frameworks
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze content policy issues at the regional and international level
  • Articulate our positions on these policy issues in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings
  • Advise Meta business and product teams on content regulatory matters to guide development of products and services
  • Represent Meta in meetings with key stakeholders, including civil society groups, government officials, and academics
  • Communicate Meta’s positions in public engagements
  • Support efforts across Meta family of apps to enhance our accountability through consultation, oversight, and transparency
  • Coordinate cross-functional regulatory projects and initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of content, online speech, and media policy experience
  • Familiarity with national or international policy proposals or frameworks for addressing harmful content online
  • An understanding of policy-making environments in APAC countries
  • Experience in or working with the technology industry
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
  • Experience planning and executing cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience planning and executing multi-company initiatives
  • Experience presenting and engaging with external stakeholders
  • Experience drafting policy position papers and reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in policy, government, law, business, corporate social responsibility, or a related field
  • Experience with international policymaking institutions and organizations (ASEAN, G7, EU, etc.)
  • Experience w/ multi-stakeholder negotiations
  • Experience in analyzing or shaping policies in the area of internet governance or content moderation
  • Fluency in additional APAC regional language(s) for the purpose of engaging with external stakeholders and to enhance scope of coverage and impact in the region.
