Meta is seeking a Performance and Capacity Engineer, Infrastructure for a mission critical Capacity Engineering and Analysis team to build systems to monitor, plan and optimize the infrastructure resource footprint (compute, storage, power, network, etc.) of our products and services. The CEA Foundation team is a dynamic, highly cross functional team that works across all of Engineering and many other teams at Meta to enable us to sustainably and reliably scale our infrastructure as our usage continues to increase combined with new product launches. You will build software to collect, analyze, forecast and infer intelligence from at scale telemetry data across applications and platforms and automate resource management for Meta fleet. Our data powered tools and insights drive efficiency and reliability improvements in Meta services. We are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity introduced by both underlying technology evolution and fast business growth and building systems that enable resource efficiency with increasing autonomy and scale.
Performance and Capacity Engineer, Infrastructure Responsibilities
  • Develop data-driven systems to provide: Insights on infrastructure resource usage of services (includes AI, ML, Distributed Storage, Core compute)
  • Automation of resource capacity management from planning, allocation, to accounting and utilization
  • Modeling, simulation and analytic tools to infer performance, capacity utilization, resource usage patterns, service bottlenecks, and forecast future growth
  • Provide deepest visibility to what is going on for all products: Run capacity and performance experiments to determine scaling and utilization parameters for various service tiers
  • Partner with Capacity and Performance Engineering, Data Science, Data Center Operations, Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering and Systems & Tooling teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years experience in coding & scripting languages such as C++, Python and Java
  • 5+ years experience in developing data-driven models, distributed systems and/or data pipelines Experience in analyzing large volumes of data to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of various infrastructure resources
  • Experience in ML/AI modeling, power management or network performance
  • Experience working and communicating with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in developing long-term technical strategies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in one or more of energy efficiency, performance engineering, datacenter optimization, large-scale distributed infrastructure
  • Experience leading teams or project initiatives in ML/AI modeling, power management or network performance
  • Experience working on ambiguous problems and building new functions by working with internal/external stakeholders
