Manager, Energy Managers (Europe)

Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently delivers our innovative services. Meta’s Energy team is seeking an experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help us grow and manage our data center portfolio to ensure a reliable, cost effective, and sustainable energy supply with a focus in Europe energy markets. This person will manage a team of energy professionals focused on electricity regulation, policy, utility relationships, energy infrastructure arrangements, and commercial energy structures for our data centers in Europe. The Manager, Energy Managers (Europe) will support the continued development and execution of Meta’s Europe energy portfolio centered on a supply of cost competitive clean and renewable energy sources consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing energy professionals to success in commercial utility negotiations, as well as knowledge of a broader spectrum of energy supply issues including commercial, regulatory, market, technical and financial expertise.
Manager, Energy Managers (Europe) Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of energy professionals and support further team growth
  • Guide the development of team priorities and the strategy for executing on them
  • Support the team in their work developing new sites and/or managing the energy landscape with sites in the existing portfolio
  • Develop internal cross functional relationships in support of the team with internal organizations including data center on-site staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal, and finance
  • Support team members on navigating complex commercial, regulatory, and policy issues and their proposed solutions
  • Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
  • Lead and support various energy projects as needed
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed (25% to 50% likely)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in navigating energy issues in Europe associated with commercial/industrial loads and new customer locations
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience
  • Experience in Europe energy markets for retail electric service, infrastructure agreements, utility interconnections, and sustainability programs
  • Working knowledge of transmission, distribution and utility interconnection processes and electrical infrastructure
  • Experience representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Experience leading with principles of accountability, transparency and recognition, with a culture of continuous improvement and learning
  • Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Proven communication skills, especially achieving alignment across multiple disciplines, and communicating transparently to leadership teams

  • MBA or J.D.
