Manager, User Experience Research Responsibilities
  • • Work closely with product teams to identify and design research topics that address both user behavior and attitudes
  • • Lead data collection through direct observation of work activities or witnessing the conduct of tests
  • • Prepare reports or presentations summarizing results or conclusions of human factors engineering or ergonomics activities, such as testing, investigation, or validation
  • • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering and marketing to help make the best social platform for Facebook's billion-plus users
  • • Assess the user-interface or usability characteristics of products, applying theory, principles, and data regarding the relationship between human interaction and respective technology
  • • Manage other researchers in the previously listed activities
  • • Influence product vision, scope, and lead roadmapping for the research function
Minimum Qualifications
  • • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Engineering, Information Science or related field and 24 months of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 6 months of experience in each of the following:
  • • At least one of the following lean research methods: hypothesis development, simplified user testing with small sample size, iterative research, or heuristic evaluations
  • • Creating and executing user research studies using at least one of the following methodologies: semi-formal one-to-one interviews, observation, surveys, diary studies, contextual ethnography, and remote or in-person user testing
  • • Collecting and analyzing user behavior data collected through variety of research methods
  • • Conducting research using a variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods
  • • Presenting qualitative and quantitative results in a creative manner
  • • Project management skills including defining the scope of work, identifying research objectives and best ways to answer research questions, creating timelines to suit the product roadmap
  • • Working with a cross-functional team to integrate research insights in product design and strategy
  • • At least one of the following data logging tools: Morae, Silverback, or Ovo
  • • Persona development
  • • Affinity diagraming and brainstorming
  • • Managing interns and research associates
  • • Leading and creating research roadmaps
