Policy Communications Director, Europe

Meta is seeking a Policy Communications Director to support a wide variety of policy issues across Europe. You will need to understand the media environment, our policies, the social debate around our platforms and the cultural context of multiple countries. You will report to the Director of Policy Communications for the EMEA region and have some management responsibilities. This position is full-time and can be located in any of our European offices with travel to Brussels frequently.
Policy Communications Director, Europe Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communications strategies to advance Meta’s European policy work in Brussels and across the region
  • Work closely with the European policy team and senior leadership to help shape and land our message across the region
  • Lead our press strategy and relationships in Brussels and, where appropriate, in other countries when managing issues that span beyond Brussels
  • Influence and operate at a senior leadership level within the Brussels cross functional team, providing counsel to cross-functional exec partners in policy, legal, marketing, and other groups within the company on a broad set of communications matters ranging from media engagement strategy to issues management
  • Continue to develop and utilise deep knowledge and understanding of the policy and political landscape across the EU institutions and Brussels
  • Develop a steady cadence of external communications opportunities, including external-facing events, media relations and digital
  • Think creatively about the way we tell our story and the channels we use, and work with the broader Public Affairs team to deliver integrated execution of communications campaigns
  • Manage a small team and agency support
Minimum Qualifications
  • Significant professional experience in communications at a leadership level
  • Significant and relevant experience of working at the EU institutions
  • A relevant network across the EU and mindful of market nuances and cultural context of our policy decisions and the debate around them
  • Crisis management skills and ability to avoid a crisis by effectively managing difficult issues and media enquiries
  • Experience working with business and opinion leaders and managing PR agencies to achieve communications goals
