Hardware Engineer Responsibilities
  • Maintain system architectures encompassing Electrical Engineering (EE) Power supply design, Power budgeting and delivery
  • Compute and size the Access Point (AP) including memory sizing, clocking, calibration and integrating hardware with firmware from original conception through prototyping, New Product Introduction (N PI), and production ramp
  • Design, implement and deploy future novel communication technologies for Facebook Connectivity
  • Leverage engineering fundamentals to draw on and possess a deep understanding of electronics and communication systems across the stack
  • Drive incubation of new technologies from proof of concept through integration into products for mass production
  • Provide design detail of switch mode power converters and inverters, transformer rectifiers, and control loops starting at the conceptual phase
  • Perform engineering analysis of power budgets, electrical circuits and systems
  • Implement hardware bring-up and integration to support power conversion systems hardware and software integration
  • Execute technical delivery on complex architectural problems to ensure translation of marketing requirements to product and design requirements in the concept development phase
  • Transfer products through the full development cycle by creating components and system level specifications, simulations, schematic capture, layout, and post-layout simulations
  • Collaborate with the research, core technology, hardware, and supply chain teams to create component and module requirements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on blank-slate and early-phase prototyping and product exploration
  • Communicate trade-offs, program concerns and technical direction to higher level management as appropriate
  • ccomplish project deliverables including specification documents, micro-architecture definitions, block diagrams, and hardware design documents
  • Work through the engineering trade-offs between performance, cost, lead-time and manufacturability
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 24 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. In the alternative, a Bachelors degree and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or computer-related occupation is acceptable. Experience must include 24 months involving the following:
  • Analog or Digital Circuit Design (including processor, memory, ADC/DAC basics, interconnects, power distribution, high speed digital interfaces, printed circuit boards or power/signal integrity etc)
  • Signal integrity SI optimization on high speed digital interfaces (PCIE, USB, familiarity with Serdes design, equalization, and experience with industry SI simulation tools)
  • Understanding of power supply design and power integrity measurements and optimizations, and experience with industry PI simulation tools
  • Hands-on experience with system bring-up in the lab and factory, and subsystem verification
  • Experience with standard test equipment (logic analyzers, network analyzers, scopes, or spectrum analyzers)
