Meta is seeking a Lab Standards Specialist who will help lead the implementation, managing, updating and training of Meta global lab design. In addition, this individual will help build standards and assist in the planning effort of building global lab standards to successful completion.
Lab Standards Specialist Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with both Facilities, Culinary and Security (FCS) and external teams to develop a set of global lab room standards as it relates to physical space and room equipment performance including but not limited to MEP/HVAC, user and equipment safety, room program criteria, typology and signage within the lab space.
  • Align standards documentation and feedback loop with WPD design standards process and platform to produce a comprehensive database to support lab spaces. Lead regular cross-functional team sync focused on new and/or emerging lab standards. Sync would include collaboration to understand end-user feedback and space needs, emerging tech and space programs, alignment with global design standards, etc.
  • Validate data analysis and conduct user group meeting and observation studies to collect program needs for lab specifications in technical facilities.
  • Develop program requirements, conceptual layouts, and detailed design criteria for Meta lab and research facilities.
  • Work closely with Meta Construction PM teams, design teams, project architects, project furniture vendor(s) and other internal technical teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and budget regarding design.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Technical Lab Leads to understand prospective end user requests. Work with Meta Project Leads to prepare lab standards space plans based upon relevant program requirements.
  • Act as lab standards advisor to the WPD Design Manager on all Meta lab design/build projects.
  • Review lab construction drawings and technical packages for adherence to Meta lab standards.
  • Oversee lab furniture/equipment scope for new build projects as well as day two projects from beginning to completion.
  • Liaise with Meta Global and RL EHS and FCS Construction PM team to apply applicable codes and standards to the lab standards.
  • Prepare technical drawings to develop lab planning and technical writing for lab standards.
  • Work with Meta Global & RL EHS and FCS Construction PM team to apply applicable codes and standards to the lab standards.
  • After lab standards are published, build and manage a feedback loop as a vehicle to collect proactive qualitative data to better understand ongoing needs, address them at the next edition and create a positive client experience.
  • Provide lab standards onboarding training to cross-functional partners and outsourcing vendor partners.
  • Validate specifications against EHS and Ergo.
  • Create and maintain a database to support lab spaces.
  • Provide quarterly standards update.
  • Provide reporting, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Manage outsourcing vendor service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of project management experience in MEP engineering, technical interior design/architecture, technical space planning, or lab construction.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience with design and coordination of engineering infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, fire, plumbing and structure.
  • Fluency across all mechanical, electrical, fire and data systems and communication with individual equipment vendors to obtain exact specifications.
  • Knowledge of the broad area of mechanical, electrical, fire and hydraulic engineering standards and practices used in different regions, to enable the audience to interpret to their own countries.
  • Knowledge of methods of describing both in drafting and graphic formats how to represent technical data to a non technical audience, including experience to operate Meta Standards Software which will be used for the production of the global standards.
  • Knowledge of equipment, structural and vibration requirements of plant items.
  • Experience to identify and anticipate organizational needs, establish priorities, and then plan, execute, and deliver on varying simultaneous projects in a timely manner while working in cross-functional teams with little supervision.

$104,000/year to $149,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
