Research Scientist Intern, Soft Wearable Technologies, Inverse Design (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance human-computer interaction research, with a focus on inverse design.
  • Collaborate with dynamic teams of engineers, designers and researchers.
  • Organize and lead research activities such as scoping the project and deliverables, developing and establishing inverse design methods and pipeline, applying inverse design for devices development, modeling and simulation data collection and analysis.
  • Communicate research activities and findings to collaborators across a variety of disciplines.
  • Write and publish high quality scientific articles.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of physics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Significant experience with inverse design (topology optimization, data-driven approaches etc.) research and applications for engineering problems.
  • Familiarity of optimization modules in commercial software (COMSOL, Matlab etc.) or open source/customized tools. Solid coding skills with an emphasis on algorithms and analysis.
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of structural mechanics, materials, and/or thermal management.
  • Research experience with applying inverse design for device development.
  • Experience in collaborating with researchers or engineers for experimental validations.
  • Knowledge of wearable devices for human computer interaction.
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
