The Public Policy team educates civil society, policymakers, and other important stakeholders on Meta’s products and advocates for a policy environment where innovation thrives and Meta can fulfill its core mission of connecting the world. The External Affairs team is part of US Public Policy and has a specific focus on engaging civil society. Our job is to strengthen and inform Meta’s policies and products by bringing knowledge and feedback from civil society, as well as manage relationships with third parties that advance the conversation around key public policy questions. The Public Policy Associate Manager, External Affairs role will advance and maintain Meta’s relationships with key external partners on both public policy and product policy questions. The manager will also represent Meta at events and share relevant information from third party groups with Meta staff. The Public Policy Associate Manager will have the opportunity to have an immediate impact on state level legislative issues and a longer term impact on federal legislation. This role requires candidates to have robust knowledge of third party priorities and have the ability to influence and educate third parties over the long term. This role will allow individuals to work with like-minded individuals who are leaders in their field and provide input into Meta’s legislative priorities. This will include collaborating with external and internal experts.
Public Policy Associate Manager, External Affairs Responsibilities
  • Attend events sponsored by Meta third party partners and represent the company’s interests
  • Develop and execute strategies for engaging with public policymakers around issues important to Meta and the people we serve
  • Advocate, internally and externally, policy positions that keep Meta and the broader technology industry competitive and innovative with third party groups and thought leaders
  • Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, and issues of importance to the company
  • Advise internal colleagues and teams on public policy matters to help guide development of products, services and policies
  • Work with content policy team to arrange conversations between relevant staff and third party partners as Facebook considers changes to content policy
  • Cross-functionally work with internal stakeholders such as content policy, communications and the broader policy team
  • Ensure engagement is tracked in CRM and necessary information is prepared for monthly reporting
  • Maintain, plan and execute team budget
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in third-party government affairs work
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience working with relevant stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience with CRM software
  • Experience maintaining and planning a budget

$114,000/year to $171,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s final level and final location. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include the company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits , if applicable.
